1.MATHEMATICS

PRIMARY - EXPERTS IN HEURISTIC CONCEPTS
Mathematics is more than the study of
numbers and patterns; its goal is to develop one’s logical thinking and ability
to solve complex problems. A primary reason why students do not improve in
dealing with math problems is that they are not taught to develop
problem-solving rules that help them to discover the best and most practical
ways to solve the problem. These problem-solving rules are known as heuristics.
Without heuristics, students are only
able to solve questions that are similar to those they have memorized before,
but are not able to tackle new and novel ones. Some students try to compensate
by using methods that they are familiar with to tackle questions that cannot be
solved using those methods. For example, we have seen many students with the
misconception that model drawing will help to solve every question as long as
the models are drawn accurately. However useful a model drawing is, it must be
used for the appropriate questions, in conjunction with the relevant heuristic
concepts and thinking skills to obtain maximum effectiveness in solving math
problems.
Our teachers are experts in teaching
heuristic mathematics and are well-versed in different approaches to solving
every type of math problem. Beyond a professional educator, we are also a

LEARNING - A REVOLUTION IN MATH LEARNING
The Singapore primary school mathematics
curriculum is among the toughest and most vigorous in the world. The difficulty
of the curriculum is pegged to a level so high that even a student who invests
a significant amount of time into revising is not guaranteed an A in the PSLE.
We seek to change that. In Polymath
Learning Centre, we have designed our own proprietary program - our Tailored
Learning System - that keeps track of every question your child has ever
completed in our centre. With this information, all future assignments will
include only questions that either challenge your child at a suitable level to
improve her thinking skills, or recap a concept that your child is frequently
weak at. This ensures that your child can spend less time wasted on questions
that are either too difficult or too easy (i.e. non-optimal practice), freeing
up precious time for you and your child.

2.SCIENCE
THE
POLYMATH APPROACH TO SCIENCE MASTERY
Many students are often already
proficient in their science knowledge. However, they still can't seem to score
well in their science examinations! The root problem is that students often
answer a question too quickly or too casually, without analyzing what the
question is asking of them. Some questions require students to compare two
objects, while others require students to provide a detailed explanation. By
lacking a systematic approach to tackling Open-ended Questions, these students
usually score well for Multiple-Choice Questions but relatively poorer for
Open-ended Questions, thus not fulfilling their potential.
Our Polymath Framework ensures that each
student approaches every Open-ended Question with a consistent and extensive
methodology. Our worksheets are designed to allow students to recall/identify
the topic, subtopic, types of questions and keywords so that they know what to
write to score well. Our teachers are experienced experts in identifying
missing keywords in your child's science vocabulary and designing a customized
curriculum for her to reinforce these missing keywords. We have seen how this
has helped many students improve not only their analysis and answering of
Open-ended Questions, but also their science knowledge and retention as a whole!

3.ROBOTICS PROGRAM
Here in our AI Engineer programme,
students learn the basics of coding, robotics, and artificial intelligence
through engaging hands-on activities. Learning to code can be a daunting
journey especially for kids. Even some adults find it hard to grasp certain
concepts and coding practices. More than often, the problem with learning to
code comes from having little to no understanding how the code works and having
an unstructured thinking process while coding.
Through the program, students will learn
how each line of code is brought to life through the Robotmaster S1, one of the
most advanced robot tanks packed with a multitude of AI features.
