Our Primary 1 and 2 English Programme

At the Middle Primary level, students
will sharpen their foundational skills acquired from Lower Primary. Students

information-based text types, to train their ability to analyze implied meaning,

Students will continue to hone their

Mathematics
Our Primary 1 and 2 Mathematics Programme
equips students with core foundation concepts such as basic mathematical
operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), and fundamental
techniques to count money, tell time, and measure length, amongst other skills.
Students will learn with the help of

Integrated Chinese
学汇乐’s fun and engaging Primary Integrated Chinese programme is designed
to help students develop a strong foundation in the Chinese language and to
give them a head start in the language.
In addition to covering all the
examinable components at lower primary levels, our Primary Integrated Chinese
programme helps students develop a strong foundation in Hanyu Pinyin and the
fundamental linguistic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. A
progressive and systematic approach is adopted to help students level up in
their composition writing – students will first practice crafting sentences,

helping students build a strong foundation in writing clearly and accurately.
Students will learn to construct clear
and grammatically-correct sentences, and generate interesting and authentic

Students will be equipped with essential

13.Phonics and Reading
Level 1 -
Budding
Our young ones will begin their journey
as budding readers with an introduction to the letters of the alphabet. They
will then move on and learn how to recognize the two main types of letters:
vowels and consonants. Students will end the first level of this programme by
learning to recognize the sounds of each individual letter in the alphabet!
Level 2 -
Beginner
At Level 2, our beginner readers are
introduced to blends and digraphs. They are taught to recognize blends and
their sounds, where consonants are blended together like where consonants are
blended together like “S” and “t” in the word star. They will also be exposed
to basic blending techniques, a critical technique we use in daily life when
learning to pronounce unfamiliar words by putting individual letters and their
sounds together.
Level 3 -
Fluent
At this intermediate level, it is crucial
for children to feel confident in their own reading abilities, especially when
reading aloud. Teachers will recap and reinforce the blending techniques taught
in the previous level before introducing yet another reading essential, rimes.
To help our young ones read with fluency and clear pronunciation, they will
practice with words that occur most frequently in written texts.
Level 4 -
Proficient
At Level 4, our students will begin
increasing their proficiency in reading by confronting more challenging words.
They will be Introduced to short vowel sounds, ending consonant blends, word
rimes and their sounds. They will also be answering open-ended questions which
are crafted to encourage thoughtful responses and cultivate thinking processes
that parallel their ability to read and speak.
Level 5 -
Champion
At the final level of our Phonics and
Reading programme, our young ones will be transformed into champion readers
with an introduction to long vowel sounds and exposure to words that are higher
on the difficulty level. They will learn the importance of punctuation and
using it to read with proper expression, accuracy and fluency. The skills
learnt at this level help our students build a strong foundation to reading

Kindergarten
1 English & Mathematics P1 Preparatory
Our Kindergarten 1 Programme cultivates a
love for English in our students by using themes that interest young children,
such as ‘Insects’, ‘Transportation’ and ‘Sea creatures’. The world comes alive
in the classroom with engaging activities including stories, games, and
interactive whiteboard activities. Children’s public speaking skills will be
developed progressively through show-and-tell sessions and frequent

The Mathematics programme will equip our
preschoolers with important mathematical concepts. Learning is enhanced through

15.Chinese Prep
Kindergarten
1 Chinese P1 Preparatory
To be proficient in Chinese, it is
imperative that a child builds up a solid foundation and develops a love for
the language from young. Students will progressively develop listening,
speaking, reading and writing skills. New Chinese characters and vocabulary are
introduced through interactive activities such as picture talk, rhymes and
riddles.
In our Kindergarten 1 Chinese P1
Preparatory programme, children will learn strategies to recognize and write
Chinese characters, including stroke writing, component writing and building
Chinese characters. They will also be taught pronunciation of Chinese
characters with the use of the four tones. Through engaging activities such as
games and classroom discussions, students will develop critical thinking skills
and experiment with the Chinese language in a fun and stimulating environment.
Kindergarten
2 Chinese P1 Preparatory
In our Kindergarten 2 Chinese P1
Preparatory programme, students will reinforce and build upon the foundational
skills learnt in kindergarten 1 while growing their appreciation for the
Chinese language through riddles, tunes and games. They will continue to work
on the pronunciation of Chinese characters with the use of 4 tones and
cultivate speaking skills that will serve them at a primary level.
With the demands of Primary school in
mind, students' core writing, reading and listening skills will be strengthened
along with their critical thinking and problem solving skills in order for them
to face the Primary 1 Chinese curriculum next year with confidence and ease.
