Lowrey Music School was established in 1980 and started off with the sales of organs and pianos. Gradually, we progressed into providing lessons for various musical instruments. Since then, we have widened our reach to the public by conducting classes at various community clubs and residents’ committee across Singapore

1.Piano Lessons
Graded piano lessons start from beginner
grade to diploma level and prepare the learner for graded examinations. We
offer music examinations from two examination boards, the Associated Board of
the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and London College of Music (LCM). Other
than teaching students to play classical pieces, graded piano lessons have a
strong emphasis on skills and technical work like aural, scales and arpeggios.
Music theory is integrated into the lesson. Students can expect to attain the
Grade 5 theory certificate before making the choice to continue their study of
music theory. Other than piano sonatas, teachers may also include jazz or pop pieces
to the student’s repertoire for greater variety. The study of the instrument
does not end upon the attainment of the Grade 8 piano practical certificate.
Many options exist for students to continue their studies at the diploma level
and beyond.
Leisure play lessons cater to learners
who are interested in learning to play the instrument without the stress of
graded examinations. Leisure play lessons tend to be more popular with late
beginners or adults as the focus is on playing a variety of songs and pieces.
Generally, lessons are conducted at a faster pace and does not include theory
unless specifically requested by the student. However, students will still be
taught the basics like reading notes on the stave, rhythm, understanding the
time signature etc.

2.Violin Lessons
As a challenging instrument to master,
the learner should be patient at the initial stages in building the correct techniques.
Our trainers will begin with posture, holding the violin and the bow and
playing on the open strings. Theory is not included in lessons and can be
included upon request.

3.Guitar Lessons
In this way, the class is able to cater
to each student’s pace of learning while at the same time providing the fun of
group learning. Students can have the option of doing classical or acoustic
guitar. Our trainers will be able to prepare students looking for certification
to register for guitar examinations under the London College of Music (LCM).Suitable for children from age 7 to
adults, with or without music background.

4.Music Theory Lessons
At Lowrey Music School, our piano lessons
include up to Grade 5 music theory as this is the prerequisite to take
practical certification at higher grades. Theory lessons can be conducted in an
individual or small group setting. Lessons can range from 15 minutes to 60
minutes per week. Students keen on assessment will be arranged to sit for the
Theory of Music examinations with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of
Music (ABRSM).
