The RAD Programme

The Royal Academy of Dance – United Kingdom (RAD) ballet syllabus is a well-established and respected programme and is offered here at Etude Dance Studio. Its established and progressive structure caters to develop dancers of all ages in their study of classical ballet.

Our Jazz program (non syllabus) is designed to help develop each dancers’ individual style, ability to move quickly, think fast and improve flexibility and musicality. If your child loves learning upbeat choreographies while moving to their favourite song, this is the place for you. All moves and music are age appropriate and level specific.

This high energy dance class combines techniques of classical modern dance with sharp animated motions. Class starts with warm up and conditioning, followed by a series of technical jazz exercises that is later reinforced in the choreography.

Tiny Dancers (age 3-4 years) 45mins

A fun filled class packed with exciting music, imaginative scenarios and use of props- our tiny dancers get to enjoy the different styles and music while learning fundamentals of both dance genres. A great introduction to the foundations of ballet and jazz, our tiny dancers class is specially designed to develop gross motor skills, build technique, free expression and imagination.

Junior Jazz Stars (5-8 years) 45mins

Emerging out of our Tinys class- our dancers can attend classes solely dedicated to Ballet and Jazz. They will learn specific skills required for the genre they have chosen, building on what they have learnt in the previous level. In this grade our Tiny Jazz Stars will immerse themselves in the jazz style for the full 45min class. They will acquire core skills that are essential for their future grades. They will also learn proper terminology- bridging their knowledge on the physical and theoretical techniques.

Jazz stars (9-13 years) 1 hour

In this one hour class our Junior Jazz Stars can expect to develop a deeper understanding of their bodies and progression. This level will provide a full range of skills to build on their technique to strengthen the individual’s dance methods. The dancers will be challenged to take on more complex techniques and combinations. As the students become more familiar with the dynamics of class this is the age we encourage our students to pick up another genre.

Senior Jazz Stars (14 & over) 1h15mins

The focus of this class will be on refining the techniques and choreography. Emphasising the marriage of performance and skills will be a challenge and satisfying to a dancer.

Beyond the popular music and choreography, the essence of K-pop is also in the hidden meanings and beauty that mesmerise many, even without them knowing. Our Kpop class is all about uncovering these hidden gems and learning more about the K-pop culture.
K-pop performances are more than just singing and dancing. Other aspects – such as stage presence, expression, styling, and set – are equally important. Come explore these through our lens to understand and appreciate the culture while honing your dance technique.
We believe that K-pop dance should not be limited to any age groups and levels, and there will always be something for everyone to take home. Versatility is emphasised in our classes as we learn from the numerous images and expressions from different songs.
Kpop song courses (kids)
We offer Kpop song courses (kids) in a 6-week, 1-hour course format that focuses on learning one specific choreography and different techniques each lesson. The lessons build up to a full dance cover filming session on the last lesson.
Kpop Open
Our Kpop open class exposes students to the different facts of Kpop while learning various choreography regularly. Each 1-hour session starts with a warm-up, followed by choreography and a short filming session to review our learning.
